On October 26, the 2026 China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition opened in Tianjin. Under the theme of "Leading, Safeguarding, Smart, and Green", this year's exhibition attracted more than 3,100 exhibitors from home and abroad, representing an increase of approximately 27% over the previous edition. The growth was primarily concentrated in sectors related to hilly and mountainous regions as well as cash crops.

The Dazhou Modern Agricultural and Forestry Equipment Industrial Park for Hilly and Mountainous Areas organized enterprises to exhibit 73 products and held a promotional event to launch five new products. As the only agricultural machinery industrial park from Sichuan Province participating under its own name at this exhibition, it showcased the technological capabilities of "Sichuan-made" agricultural machinery in terms of intelligence, lightweight design, and eco-friendliness.

The exhibited agricultural machinery covered two major categories: complete machines and supporting components. These products are designed to address key industry pain points in hilly and mountainous areas, including fragmented land plots, abundant sloping fields, and difficulties in deploying large-scale machinery. They are well-suited for scenarios such as mechanized operations in small terraced fields and the harvesting of specialty cash crops.

Each of the five newly launched products features distinct characteristics. A self-propelled, lightweight corn seeder introduced by Sichuan Jifore Agricultural Machinery Co., Ltd. enables simultaneous precision sowing of corn and soybeans in small plots within hilly terrain. A flame carbonization weeder eliminates weeds and insect eggs through high-temperature treatment, significantly reducing pesticide use. A pure-electric leafy vegetable harvester boasts a battery life exceeding five hours, providing critical support for overcoming challenges in greenhouse vegetable harvesting. An AI-powered targeted spraying robot utilizes machine vision to achieve pixel-level precision in pesticide application, contributing to reduced chemical usage. Additionally, an AI plant protection robot developed by Sichuan Duojia Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. integrates AI recognition, pulse width modulation technology, and real-time kinematic positioning to enable precise target identification and minimize spray drift.

Zhou Guomin, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Nanjing Institute of Agricultural Mechanization under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, stated that the Dazhou Modern Agricultural and Forestry Equipment Industrial Park for Hilly and Mountainous Areas has achieved a pivotal leap from initial breakthroughs to tangible results in just two years, establishing a fully integrated industrial ecosystem encompassing production, academia, research, promotion, and application. He noted that the core challenge of agricultural mechanization in hilly and mountainous regions has shifted from a lack of available machinery to difficulties in practical utilization. Addressing issues such as poor mobility on slopes and limited maneuverability in fragmented plots remains essential. He recommended strengthening linkages among stakeholders in production, academia, research, extension, and application; making full use of pilot testing and maturation bases; and enhancing the level of intelligence for region-specific crops..

At the event, the Dachuan Sub-center of the National Forestry Machinery Service Center and the R&D Center for Hilly and Mountainous Machinery of the Harbin Research Institute of Forestry Machinery under the National Forestry and Grassland Administration were officially established in Dachuan District, injecting strong momentum into the promotion of agricultural and forestry equipment, socialized services, and technological R&D for hilly and mountainous areas.

Located in Dachuan District, Dazhou City, the Dazhou Modern Agricultural and Forestry Equipment Industrial Park for Hilly and Mountainous Areas broke ground in January 2024. To date, the park has completed construction of 120,000 square meters of standardized factory buildings, accommodated 16 resident enterprises, and put 27 production lines into operation, with products covering the entire process of plowing, planting, crop management, and harvesting.

Xu Jinrong, Director of the Management Committee of the Dachuan Industrial New Area, explained that the park has partnered with multiple universities and research institutions to establish an R&D center, complemented by facilities including a maturation and verification base, an agricultural machinery appraisal center, an exhibition and sales center, and an agricultural service center. From January to September this year, agricultural machinery sales from the park exceeded 40,000 units. The products not only meet local demand but have also been sold to seven provinces across China and exported to countries including Canada, Russia, and Vietnam.
