On July 30, 2026, the 2026 Amazon Global Selling West China Seller Summit was held in Chengdu, where the West China Industrial Belt Joint Empowerment Plan was launched. The plan aims to leverage the mature "Sichuan cross-border e-commerce experience" to benefit ten provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities in western China. Over the next two years, it will provide in-depth support to ten key industrial belts, incubate 300 cross-border brand sellers, and cultivate 100 high-quality global sellers, thereby comprehensively activating the momentum of cross-border e-commerce development in the region.

The empowerment plan covers the entirety of Sichuan, Chongqing, Shaanxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Xinjiang, and Xizang. It coordinates efforts with local governments, industry associations, and service providers across three dimensions—policy guidance, capacity building, and supporting services—to open channels for western manufacturing to access global markets.

Qiu Sheng, Vice President of Amazon China, stated that West China possesses distinctive and differentiated industrial resources, with sectors such as Chengdu women's footwear, Chengdu-Chongqing automotive and motorcycle parts, Kunming preserved flowers, Zheng'an guitars, and Sichuan panel furniture all demonstrating strong potential for overseas expansion. Previous cooperation in Sichuan has proven that, supported by the platform's systematic cross-border services, local factories in western China are fully capable of building their own global brands. Leveraging AI-powered product selection tools, end-to-end supply chain services, and a local empowerment system, Amazon will implement its "Launch Globally from Day One" philosophy to help western enterprises develop products and brands with a global perspective.

Industry insiders noted that cross-border e-commerce is a core driver for opening-up and foreign trade upgrading in inland regions. Going forward, Sichuan will continue to deepen its cooperation with Amazon, utilizing a model of "government guidance + platform empowerment + ecosystem support." Collaborative efforts will focus on industrial upgrading, brand cultivation, talent development, and global market expansion to eliminate geographical and information barriers hindering western enterprises from going global.

Since 2025, Amazon has been deeply engaged with nine major advantageous industrial belts in Sichuan, conducting dozens of empowerment events across 12 cities and prefectures and serving more than 5,500 participants. Scaled clusters for overseas expansion have emerged in sectors including Chengdu footwear, Mianyang smart hardware, and Leshan home furnishings. Taking Chengdu women's footwear as an example, local brand iiimmu achieved sales growth exceeding 120% after launching on Amazon, with annual sales approaching $10 million, driving the entire industrial belt's transition from OEM supply to independent global branding.

The newly launched Joint Empowerment Plan introduces four key initiatives: collaborating with governments across western China to establish regular industrial cooperation mechanisms; providing tiered empowerment for industrial belts at different development stages, including trade-manufacturing matchmaking and one-on-one store setup consultations; offering differentiated tools such as Amazon Business and Multi-Channel Fulfillment for factories and independent site sellers; and upgrading the local Service Provider Network (SPN) by attracting 50 high-quality service providers to West China within two years, leveraging AI-driven intelligent services to reduce overseas expansion costs for enterprises.

Supported by Amazon's Global Smart Hub Warehouse network, enterprises in western China will be able to streamline cross-border logistics and multi-marketplace operations in the future, allowing them to focus on product innovation and brand building. Amazon stated that it will continue to deepen its engagement in the West China market, facilitating the transformation of local industrial belts from contract manufacturing to global branding, and establishing a new paradigm for opening-up in western China.
