At 3:50 p.m. on July 26, localized short-duration heavy rainfall triggered mudslides in parts of the Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic Area, causing blockages on some roads. According to the Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic Area Administration, the disaster affected approximately 2,300 tourists. As of 10 p.m. that day, all tourists had been safely evacuated to secure zones, with no casualties reported. Following the disaster, the administration immediately activated a Level II emergency response for flood control and geological disasters. It coordinated with relevant entities in Jiuzhai County, the Jiuzhaigou Tourism Branch of Aba Dajiulv Group, as well as its own Emergency Management Office, Fire Brigade, and Planning and Construction Office, to swiftly carry out on-site rescue operations, tourist evacuation, emergency response measures, and inspections for geological hazards. To expedite the evacuation, staff members promptly arrived at the mudslide sites and constructed temporary bridges to guide tourists to safe zones before transferring them onto sightseeing buses for exit from the valley. Meanwhile, some tourists were organized to hike around the affected areas to designated safety points before boarding vehicles for evacuation. On-site footage showed volunteers, firefighters, and scenic area staff systematically guiding tourists out of the valley along the route. The Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic Area is laid out in a Y-shaped configuration, and mudslides occurred at multiple locations within the valley, resulting in the closure of several road sections. Rainfall ceased at 10 p.m. on the 26th, and rescue teams are working through the night on repairs, aiming to reopen all blocked roads overnight. Once the roads are reopened, relevant authorities will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the affected areas. If no safety hazards are identified, the entire scenic area will resume normal operations; if risks persist, specific zones will be cordoned off, with the duration and scope contingent upon repair progress and weather conditions. The scenic area will promptly release updates on repair efforts and reopening status to the public, and tourists are advised to stay informed via official channels.
