From July 14 to 17, Deng Zhengquan, Director of the Sichuan Provincial Health Commission, led a delegation on an official visit to Macao and Hong Kong. The delegation engaged in in-depth discussions with high-quality healthcare resources in Hong Kong and Macao, facilitating a series of cooperation agreements between relevant medical institutions and universities from Sichuan, Hong Kong, and Macao. Substantial outcomes were achieved, with multiple consensus points reached in areas including talent development, joint discipline building, and collaborative research.

During the visit in Macao, the delegation held talks with Lo Iek Long, Director of the Health Bureau, engaging in extensive discussions on topics such as co-building public health systems, enhancing medical service capabilities, and strengthening coordination in disease prevention and control. Deng Zhengquan noted that Sichuan possesses abundant medical resources and a well-established service system, with notable strengths in clinical education, stomatology, and cancer prevention and treatment. He expressed hope that both sides could deepen collaboration in medical services, education, and research by leveraging their respective advantages.

Lo Iek Long stated that Macao adheres to a "health-in-all-policies" approach and is willing to expand cooperation with Sichuan in areas including cancer prevention and treatment, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and talent development. The delegation also visited the llha Verde Health Centre and met with representatives from the Macao Association of Chinese Doctors, Macao University of Science and Technology, and Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau.

During this period, the Sichuan Medical Association and the Macao Association of Chinese Doctors signed an agreement on medical student and academic exchanges; the Sichuan Cancer Hospital and Macao University of Science and Technology signed a memorandum of understanding on research and talent development; and Sichuan Vocational College of Nursing conferred honorary professorships on three faculty members from Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau.

In Hong Kong, the delegation held talks with Lo Chung-mau, Secretary for Health of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Deng Zhengquan remarked that Sichuan and Hong Kong enjoy a solid foundation for cooperation and expressed hopes to further deepen collaboration in health industry development and research commercialization to enhance public health and well-being in both regions.

Lo Chung-mau welcomed the opportunity presented by this exchange to strengthen cooperation in TCM inheritance and innovation, as well as medical talent development. The delegation visited the Hong Kong Medical Association, Hong Kong Sports Institute, Faculty of Medicine of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Tung Wah College, and City University of Hong Kong. They witnessed the signing of an exchange agreement between the Sichuan Medical Association and the Hong Kong Medical Association; a memorandum of understanding on athlete rehabilitation cooperation between the Sichuan Provincial Orthopedic Hospital and the Hong Kong Sports Institute; and a strategic cooperation framework agreement between the Sichuan Cancer Hospital and City University of Hong Kong. Additionally, Sichuan Vocational College of Nursing conferred honorary professorships on two faculty members from Tung Wah College.

This visit represents a significant step in Sichuan's efforts to deepen healthcare cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao and will strongly promote high-quality development in medical talent cultivation, collaborative research, and academic exchange between Sichuan-Macao and Sichuan-Hong Kong.

The delegation included heads of the Provincial People's Hospital, Sichuan Vocational College of Nursing, Sichuan Cancer Hospital, and Sichuan Provincial Orthopedic Hospital, as well as relevant staff from the Commission's Department of International Cooperation, Department of Science, Technology and Education, and Office.
