On May 16–17, the Second Tianfu International Forum on Autism Brain Science opened at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in Chengdu, marking a highlight of the city’s 36th National Disability Day events. Supported by the Chengdu Disabled Persons’ Federation, the forum gathered over 300 experts, officials, clinicians, rehabilitation workers and autism families to advance tech-driven autism diagnosis and treatment.

High-level attendees included Dong Limei from the China Disabled Persons’Federation, Tian Chengchuan, Vice Mayor of Chengdu, and heads of provincial and municipal disabled persons’ federations. Hu Jun, President of UESTC, emphasized the university’s commitment to integrating medicine and engineering to serve people with disabilities, while school leaders highlighted progress in autism brain science research.

Under the theme “Neuroimaging and Brain-Computer Interfaces for Neurodevelopmental Disorders”, the forum featured 33 top-level presentations by international experts. The China Autism Brain Imaging Consortium shared achievements in building a national big data platform, with outcomes supporting local rehabilitation in Chengdu.

Warm public welfare activities accompanied the academic sessions: the Starry Bazaar charity sale, Starlight Concert, and family workshops. Free live streaming extended the event’s reach nationwide.

The forum underscores Chengdu’s push for tech-enabled disability support. It will continue fostering university–local cooperation to translate brain science advances into accessible care, lighting the way for “children of the stars.”
