From December 13 to 15, the “2025 Global Distinguished Figures’ Journey in the Bashu Region: Discover Sichuan Through Micro Dramas” event took place in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. This event is hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Radio and Television and Sichuan Daily Press Group, and organized by the Sichuan International Communication Center (SICC) and Beijing Kuaishou Technology Co., Ltd. It aims to showcase the diverse appeal of Sichuan’s cultural tourism through the lenses of overseas content creators.
This creative field research trip comes in 2 themed routes: “the Hustle and Bustle of the Bashu Region” and “Mysterious Bashu Region”. The latter brings together 11 top-tier overseas content creators from 7 countries, including the United Kingdom, Chile, Vietnam, Nigeria, Thailand, and New Zealand, to explore Wenchuan and Lixian counties. Guided by the theme of “Mysterious Bashu Region”, they journeyed through snow-capped mountains, Qiang villages, and hot springs to capture touching stories where Sichuan’s natural landscapes and cultural heritage intertwine.

Immersive Experience: From Ski Resorts to Ancient Qiang Watchtowers – Bridging Nature and Culture
At the ski resort in the Qiangrengu Valley Scenic Area, Chilean influencer Nico tried high-altitude skiing. “Skiing amidst snow-capped mountains surrounded by Qiang culture is truly inspiring,” Nico noted. “I plan to exhibit this dynamic natural beauty in my travel micro dramas.”

Subsequently, the influencers visited Taoping Qiang Village in Lixian County, where they sampled authentic Qiang cuisine while participating in a Tibetan-Qiang bonfire party. Daniil Untevskiy from Russia tried his hand at Qiang embroidery under the guidance of local Qiang artisans. “Each stitch and thread carries historical resonance,” Daniil remarked. “It reminds me of the handicrafts from my homeland. Though cultures may differ, our hearts are connected.”

The millennia-old Qiang watchtowers, known as the “World’s Taoping,” captivated Kiara Lah, a Vietnamese doctoral student at Tsinghua University. “These structures are not merely stone and earthen constructions, but a dialogue between humanity, the land, and history.” she remarked, “I plan to utilize short videos to reveal Sichuan’s profound cultural depth to a wider audience.”
At Taoping Qiang Village in Lixian County, the creators joined hands with local Qiang and Tibetan people to perform the Guozhuang Dance. With leaping flames illuminating beaming smiles, participants of diverse languages and skin tones danced to the joyful rhythm, vividly embodying the universal sentiment that “ethnic cultures belong to the world.” Nigerian influencer Mesini Jeremiah Sokomba exclaimed amidst the dance: “Music and dance are universal languages. Here, I not only witnessed Sichuan’s ethnic culture but also experienced the joy and connection shared by all humanity.”

Sharing Stories of “Sichuan in Micro Dramas” amidst the Warmth of Hot Springs
On the following day, the overseas influencers ventured into the real-life “Ice and Snow Wonderland” — Bipenggou Valley, where snow-capped mountains and lakes presented a tranquil landscape. British creator Riyan walked along the boardwalk while streaming live, showcasing the serenity and splendour of snowy Sichuan to the audience in fluent Chinese. “Sichuan is more than just urban views and delicacies — it also boasts secret realms hidden in snow mountains that can calm the mind,” he shared.

As the journey drew to a close, the participants arrived at Guergou Hot Springs, hailed as “Western Sichuan’s Premier Hot Springs.” Against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains, the soothing spring water created a natural setting for exchanges and relaxation.
During the event, multiple creators expressed the enthusiasm for capturing their journey in Aba in various content formats such as micro dramas, travelogues, and vlogs, which will be released on social media platforms both domestically and internationally.
2 editions of the “Global Distinguished Figures’ Journey in the Bashu Region” event have been held successfully. This year’s theme, “Discover Sichuan Through Micro Dramas”, aligns with the trend of “micro dramas going global”. By leveraging Sichuan’s rich cultural tourism resources and industrial foundation, the initiative seeks to promote “Audio-Visual Sichuan” to the world.
According to a representative from the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Radio and Television, Sichuan is actively building brands such as “Hundreds of Aural-Visual Works Displaying Sichuan’s Charm” and “Mysteries of Sichuan”, continuously optimizing the creative ecosystem for micro dramas. By harnessing the perspectives of overseas content creators, the province intends to establish Sichuan as a window, through which the world can appreciate China’s natural beauty and cultural charm.
It is reported that all works created during this creative field research trip will be showcased collectively on Kuaishou and the SICC’s overseas platforms in late December. Additionally, Kuaishou Technology will provide robust support for the exhibition and broadcasting event by launching a dedicated topic page and allocating billions of traffic resources to promote high-quality content, ensuring that Sichuan’s stories resonate globally.
