On March 1, an amateur football tournament nicknamed the “Sichuan International Super League” by fans kicked off at the sports field of Sichuan Agricultural University in Yucheng District, Ya’an. The Sichuan Global Football Club (SCGFC) composed of players from 11 countries competed against the Ya’an Tianyu Football Team in a thrilling match, with nearly a thousand fans cheering from the stands.

The SCGFC consists of amateur players from 11 countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Spain, and Morocco, with most of them living and working in Sichuan. “The opportunity to communicate and exchange ideas with foreign football enthusiasts is incredibly rare, and it has also enabled our players to gain valuable match experience,” said Zhou Bo, captain of the Ya’an Tianyu Football Team.

Before the start of the match, the most iconic “iron bull” from Sichuan Agricultural University took the stage first, prompting student representatives and SCGFC players to warm up with a fascinating competition titled “Carrying an Iron Bull.” Throughout the event, the university also presented folk performances such as martial arts and dragon dance for the players and the audience.
After 90 minutes of intense competition, the SCGFC narrowly defeated the Tianyu Football Team with a score of 4-3, as the players from both sides delivered a high-level rivalry for the live audience. “Their performance was strikingly excellent, since the players cooperated seamlessly and demonstrated exceptional skill. It was an exciting match, ”said Alex, a player from Belgium, to a Chuanguan News reporter after the match.

This marks the inaugural match of the “Leisurely Sports Sichuan International Football Tournament.” The tournament is hosted by Chuanguan News, C Visual Image Database, and the Sichuan International Communication Center. It is co-organized by Sichuan Agricultural University, the Sichuan Provincial Social Sports Guidance Center, the Sichuan International Cultural Exchange Center, the College of Literature and Journalism of Sichuan University, the School of Journalism and Communication of Chengdu Sport University, and the Ya’an Photographers Association, with equipment support provided by AEROFUGIA. In the days to come, the players will progressively travel to more regions to engage and learn from amateur teams across the province.
