On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Italy, a cultural feast was launched in Chengdu. On Jan.20, guided by the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Cultural Heritage, and the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism (Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Cultural Heritage), and co-hosted by the Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum and the Government of Apulia, Italy, the exhibition "Ancient Greece: Mythology, Heroes, Destiny - Treasures from the Apulia Felix, Italy" was officially unveiled at the Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum. This exhibition marks the first stop of its China tour and is the first-ever ancient Greek artifact exhibition in Sichuan, offering visitors an extraordinary cultural journey into ancient Greece.

The exhibition features 119 precious pieces/sets from 9 cultural and heritage institutions in the Apulia region of Italy, including sculptures, pottery, bronzes, glassware, and more. These artifacts showcase the development of ancient Greek civilization in the Apulia region from the 6th century BCE to the 2nd century CE.

The exhibition is organized around six key gods of ancient Greek mythology: Poseidon-God of the Sea, Demeter-Goddess of Agriculture, Athena-Goddess of Wisdom, Apollo-God of Light, Heracles-God of Strength, and Dionysus-God of Wine. This thematic structure allows visitors to gain an in-depth understanding of the daily life, artistic achievements, spiritual beliefs, and cultural heritage of the ancient Greeks, while also appreciating the unique charm of ancient Greek civilization.

To enhance the visitor experience, the exhibition features a variety of interactive installations. Additionally, during the nearly four-month exhibition period, the organizers will invite experts and scholars from the field of cultural heritage to give academic lectures, as well as conduct a series of educational and creative activities, such as color-filled sculptures and creative pottery painting.

This exhibition not only provides an important platform for cultural exchange between China and Italy, but also offers the audience in Sichuan a rare opportunity to closely engage with ancient Greek civilization, bringing the profound and rich cultural heritage of ancient Greece.
