    如今,大家可以足不出户通过指尖屏幕纵览天下大事,但在互联网出现之前,最好的媒介必然是报纸,按照天为单位更新,它是社会的镜子、公众的眼睛,记录时代的脉搏、社会的变迁,讲述人间的冷暖、复杂的真相。在那个时代,家门口的华西都市报黄色报箱,茶馆里的卖报吆喝声,都能在你记忆中的某一瞬间定格。一张张报纸叠加起来能让人感受到信息的重量,那不同年份的油墨香混合在就是时光珍藏的味道。

    Today, we can learn about the world’s major events with a small screen. However, before the emergence of the Internet, newspapers were the optimal mediums. Daily updated newspapers played the role of society’s mirror and the public’s eyes, recording the pulse of the times and societal changes, and unveiling human relationships and complex truths. In that era, yellow newspaper boxes of the West China City Daily on our doorstep and the newspaper vendor’s calls echoing through teahouses fused within our mind, frozen in memories.     We would like to share this valuable experience with you. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the West China City Daily, we proudly present the “Resonance with the Times: The Cultural Exhibition of Sichuan Humanities Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the West China City Daily”. The exhibition will officially launch on November 26, 2024 at Courtyard No. 1 of Kuanxiangzi Alley, under the guidance of the Sichuan Daily Press Group. It is hosted by the Cover News and West China City Daily, co-organized by the Sichuan International Communication Center, and specially supported by the 1960s version of Luzhou Laojiao Tequ.

    Highlight 1: Over Its 30-year Course, the West China City Daily Has Become Both a Recorder of History and a Participant in the Progress of the Times

    如果把1995年1月1日至今出版的华西都市报叠加在一起究竟有多重?没人能给你准确的答案,但它所真实记录的历史瞬间一定窖藏在不同的人心底不同的位置。对于中国作协副主席、四川省作协主席阿来来讲,华西都市报是他倾谈的挚友。2018年,阿来凭借《蘑菇圈》获得第七届鲁迅文学奖后,华西都市报第一时间采访,娓娓道来他在文学之路上的求索与思考。

    What is the weight of all the issues of the West China City Daily published from January 1, 1995, to today? No one can give an exact answer, but the historical moments it has truly recorded must reside in different parts in the hearts of different people. For Alai, Deputy Chairman of the China Writers Association and Chairman of the Sichuan Writers Association, the West China City Daily acts as his cherished friend. In 2018, after Alai won the 7th Lu Xun Literature Prize for “Mushroom Circle”, the West China City Daily was the first to interview him, sharing his journey and thoughts on literary creation with readers.

    对于眉州东坡董事长王刚来讲,华西都市报是他追梦的初心。2002年2月,华西都市报推出“倾力打造川菜王国”系列报道,正是这一组深度报道让王刚决心“为全世界人民做好饭”,将川菜带向了全世界。

    For Wang Gang, Chairman of Meizhou Dongpo Group, the West China City Daily witnessed his initial pursuit of dreams. In February 2002, the West China City Daily published an in-depth series titled “Striving to Build a Kingdom of Sichuan Cuisine.” This series drove Wang Gang to commit to “delivering exquisite meals to people around the world” and sharing Sichuan cuisine with global diners.

    对于郎铮来讲,华西都市报是他成长的守护者。2008年汶川大地震中,3岁的郎铮获救后抬起右手,向解放军战士敬礼,这一幕被记者杨卫华拍下。2023年,他被北京大学录取后,杨卫华的儿子、华西都市报记者杨博第一时间发出消息和通讯。通过镜头,两代新闻人,完成了记录时代与生活的接力。

    For Lang Zheng, the West China City Daily is the guardian of his growth. During the Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008, 3-year-old Lang Zheng raised his right hand in salute to the soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army after being rescued. This touching moment was captured by reporter Yang Weihua. In 2023, after Lang Zheng was admitted to Peking University, Yang Weihua’s son Yang Bo (a journalist from the West China City Daily) sent out news coverage for the first time. Through cameras, two generations of journalists have completed a relay of documenting history and life.

    Highlight 2: A Dynamic Exhibition That Features a Dialogue Between Humanities and the Times

    据策展人介绍,之所以选择宽巷子一号院落作为展陈地,正是看中了这里浓厚的人文气息,宽窄巷子是成都历史文化名城保护街区,也是成都最具消费活力的街区。从热闹的宽窄巷子步入展览现场,每一个观展人一定会瞬间感受到怀旧与现代、文化与时光的碰撞。

    According to the curator, Courtyard No. 1 of Kuanxiangzi Alley was chosen as the exhibition site because of its deep cultural significance. Kuanxiangzi Alley is a protected historical and cultural district in the city of Chengdu, as well as the most flourishing district in the city in terms of consumer expenditure. Entering the exhibition site from the bustling vibe embodied by Kuanxiangzi Alley, every visitor instantly experiences the collision of nostalgia and modernity, as well as the mixture of cultural influences and the passage of time.

    展览将在这座古典川西民居老建筑中展出一个月,你可以沉浸式体验一张报纸的出版流程,在“时代的封面”大型装置下感受责编“挑灯看报,浓香醉人”的成就感;也可以在《蜀地烟火》的空间里感受三十年前“九斗碗”热闹场景,感受成都话、泸州话不同的方言版本。在报刊亭,你可以与AI小封风格化智媒体时空对话;或转身步入隔壁的“时光长廊”,回味岁月的味道;抑或什么都不做,就躺在《蜀地之眼》二楼房间的懒人沙发上,沉浸式观看华西都市报、封面新闻历年来获得中国新闻奖的作品......

    The exhibition will be on display in this classical old building of Western Sichuan style for one month. It gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the publishing process of a newspaper. For instance, while standing underneath the large installation of “The Cover of the Times”, you can feel executive editors’ sense of accomplishment when reading the newspaper under dim light, surrounded by the rich fragrance of pages. Likewise, the area referred to as “Sichuan’s Enjoyments” gives you a glimpse into the culture of “JiuDouWan” from 30 years ago, while experiencing the different dialect influences from the regions of Chengdu and Luzhou. At the newsstand corner, you can travel in time by having a conversation with AI-generated media companion “Xiao Feng”, or take a turn to savor the nostalgia of the past in the designated “Time Corridor”. Alternatively, you can simply relax on one of the comfortable sofas in the second-floor room where “Eyes of Sichuan” is located, and admire the works of the West China City Daily and Cover News, which have been honored with the China Journalism Award over the years.

    Throughout the exhibition, the organizers have put together a remarkable line-up of renowned individuals who are masters in their respective fields. They will hold a number of salons to discuss historical manuscripts alongside tea and aperitifs to devour the flavors of history and bygone eras. These distinguished guests include Alai, Deputy Chairman of the China Writers Association and Chairman of the Sichuan Writers Association, Wang Hai, Deputy Chairman of the China Literature and Art Critics Association, Deputy Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Chairman of the Sichuan Literature and Art Critics Association, and a crossover designer and creative cultural figure, Xu Liaoyuan, an artist and founder of the Chengdu XLYMOMA Art Museum, Chen Mo, a well-known critic, curator and professor, Zhang Yuanfu, a Chinese culinary master and proprietor of Youyun, Shi Guanghua, a poet and Sichuan cuisine culture scholar, along with many other well-known faces keen to share their unique point of view with the exhibition audience.
