Sichuan TCM Culture Attracts Delegation from Thailand's Ministry of Public Health

    On the morning of November 15, delegation from Thailand's Ministry of Public Health visited Sichuan to attend the Traditional Chinese Medicine Cultural Exchange Salon, organized by the Sichuan Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and hosted by the Sichuan Integrative Medicine Hospital. The event aimed to foster the integration and development of traditional Chinese medicine and modern healthcare. Nearly 30 experts and scholars participated, including the Director and Deputy Director of the Medical Services Department of Thailand's Ministry of Public Health, faculties from the Rangsit University, and representatives from Rajavithi hospital and Ladprao General Hospital,etc.

    During the salon, Thai guests viewed bilingual videos and digital exhibitions on Sichuan's TCM culture, and experienced the national intangible cultural heritage of Chuzhen (Pestle Needle) Therapy. They also learned about the concept of "medicine and food share the same origin" and tasted Sichuan health teas, herbal pastries, and desserts, immersing themselves in the rich cultural heritage of TCM.

    Dr. Li Ruoyan from the Fan Xiaoming TCM Studio in Sichuan demonstrated the Chuzhen (Pestle Needle) Therapy and invited the guests to experience it. "The 'Qi' culture in TCM is truly fascinating!" and "I really like the non-invasive, non-penetrating Chuzhen (Pestle Needle) Therapy", said the Thai rheumatologist Dr. Tawana Kitimnuaypong.

    TCM writer Yan Yixi introduced the concept of "medicine and food share the same origin" through the naming and efficacy of Chinese herbs, highlighting how this idea is integrated into the daily life of Sichuan residents. Thai pediatric gastroenterologist Dr. Siwarode Khanom expressed great interest in children's herbal education and expressed a desire to bring TCM children's books back to Thailand.

    Deputy Chief Physician Dr. Tang Liping, and Chief Physician Dr. Zhang Xiaohui from of Sichuan Integrative Medicine Hospital, shared their experiences in diagnosing and treating cancer and respiratory diseases using TCM methods, respectively.

    Nuttapong Wongwiwat, Deputy Director of Thailand's Medical Services Department, stated that Thailand is actively promoting the integration of traditional and modern medicine and hopes to learn from Sichuan’s rich experiences to enhance collaboration in both fields.

    This TCM cultural exchange salon was a successful blend of traditional and modern medicine and a strong example of Sino-Thai cooperation.
