In the early morning of August 10, Beijing time, the 2024 Paris Olympic Games women's field hockey game ushered in the final championship battle and China's women's hockey team won a silver medal, tying the Chinese women's hockey team in the Olympic Games in the best results.

Among the 19 players (including replacement players) of China’s women’s hockey team in the Paris Olympics, 10 are from Sichuan.

Sichuan women's field hockey team was founded in 1984. Through 40 years of hard work, this team has developed into a strong contingent.

In 2022 Asian Games, 8 athletes and a coach were selected into the Chinese women's hockey team, and help Chinese women's hockey successfully get to the Paris Olympics. Later, 15 Sichuan women's hockey players (including an alternative) were recruited into the national team to participate in the preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics. In the end, Dan Wen, Ou Zixia, Zou Meirong and Xu Rongxu from Leshan, Chen Yi and He Jiangxin from Deyang, Yang Liu, Tan Jintong and Yu Anhui from Dazhou and Ye Jiao from Chengdu were selected for the Olympic roster.

Although women's field hockey is a relatively minor sport in China compared to soccer, basketball and volleyball, according to the data, more than 10 cities in Sichuan have launched women's field hockey programs.

"Our predecessors have created excellent results, and that's what we've been striving for." The relevant person in charge of the Sichuan Baseball Softball Hockey Sports Management Center said that onone hand, the athletes’ hard work contributed to the success of Sichuan’s women’s hockey team; on the other hand, the support of the sports administration in Sichuan Province was also a significant factor. Sichuan’s women’s field hockey team has made field hockey a "shining name card" of Sichuan.
