In March 1928, American explorer Joseph Rock embarked on a journey through the mysterious mountains, delving deep into an area that is now known as the Daocheng Yading region.
Rock was captivated by the breathtaking scenery here. Subsequently, he published articles and photographs of his journey in the National Geographic magazine, causing a sensation in the West and introducing this "pure land on the blue planet" to the world for the first time. The route the expedition team took from Muli through the Gongga Mountains to the region later became known as the "Rock Line."
The "Rock Line" attracted numerous adventure enthusiasts. Nearly a century later, a French exchange student Richard, under the guidance of a local explorer Old Yin, retraced this world-class high-altitude trekking route, embarking on an adventure through time and space to Shangri-La.
