2023年成都举办大运会期间，来自印度、巴基斯坦、加拿大的众多运动员挤在大运村的一角，争相兑换一个小挂件——用珠子串出来的“醒狮”，由珠绣非遗传承人廖娟制作。

During last year’s Chengdu 2021 FISU Games, athletes from India, Pakistan, and Canada congregated in a corner of the FISU Games Village to exchange a small pendant: the beaded “Awakening Lion” crafted by Liao Juan, an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of pearl embroidery.

2024年1月，廖娟尝试做了一些有趣的小东西，有“甩甩龙”，还有“鱼灯”，为即将到来的农历新年，增添童趣。

In January 2024, Liao Juan experimented with some interesting little items, including the "swinging dragon"and the "fish lantern", infusing them with a sense of childlike whimsy and playfulness for the upcoming Chinese New Year.

珠绣是传统刺绣的一种，来源于“粤绣”，主要是利用小珠子、小亮片等多种材料进行刺绣。

As a form of traditional embroidery, pearl embroidery originated from “Cantonese Embroidery”. This embroidery technique primarily involves various materials such as small beads and small sequins.

在新年系列设计中，廖娟做出的第一个珠绣吉祥物就是“醒狮”，它50%以上的材料为珠子和亮片，当光线照射到排列细腻的亮片上时，“醒狮”更是活灵活现，熠熠生辉。

Among Liao Juan's designs for the new year, the first completed pearl embroidery mascot completed was the “Awakening Lion”. Beads and sequins make up more than 50% of its composition. Through an elaborate arrangement, the “Awakening Lion” appears vividly lifelike when light interacts with it, shimmering with a gorgeous glow.

这份设计并不是信手拈来的，“它到底应该是什么样子的呢?我没有珠绣吉祥物的实物可参考。”廖娟画出平面的醒狮设计图后，紧接着又查看了广东舞狮、猫科动物的影像资料，它的耳朵、眉毛、睫毛、胡须……经过一点点调整，“醒狮”终于有了俏皮的感觉。

The design idea of the “Awakening Lion” was not casually conceived. “I hadn’t seen an actual pearl embroidery mascot, so what should it look like?” After sketching the “Awakening Lion”, Liao Juan referred to images of Guangdong lion dancing and felines, observing their ears, eyebrows, eyelashes, and beard... After a few adjustments, the “Awakening Lion” finally took on a playful appearance.

对于廖娟而言，每当使用新材料去尝试制作新的形象，收获意想不到的效果后，她会格外兴奋，这也能触发她更多的设计灵感。

For Liao Juan, each time she creates a new work using different materials and achieves unexpected results, she feels particularly excited. This excitement, in turn, fuels her with more design inspiration.

“我想做快乐的作品。”在廖娟的心里，她希望作品是有表达、有温度，能与人内心碰撞的，“我想，能让人感到快乐的作品，大家都会喜欢。”

“I want to make works that can make people happy.” Liao Juanwishes to create works that express the artist’s ideas, radiate warmth, and strike a responsive chord in people’s hearts. “I believe joyful creations will be favored by everyone.”
