一提到元宵节，许多人就会想到热闹非凡的灯会。一提到北京冬奥会，最受欢迎的“萌团子”冰墩墩是不是出现在你的脑海?今天是元宵节，四川国际传播中心的小伙伴们决定来到自贡，接受一项特别的挑战——制作一款“冰墩墩”彩灯。

Speaking of the Lantern Festival, the first thing you think of must be lanterns. When it comes to the Beijing Winter Olympics, nothing is more popular than Bing Dwen Dwen.

Today is the Lantern Festival. The filming crew of SICC (Sichuan International Communication Center) has decided to come to the city of Zigong for a special challenge -- making a festive lantern that emulates the exact model of the mascot.

元宵节是农历新年的第十五天，正月是农历的元月，正月十五是一年中第一个月圆之夜，所以又称为“元宵节”。元宵节的起源还有待商榷，但人们普遍认为，赏彩灯是元宵节必不可少的传统民俗活动之一，元宵彩灯同时也象征着家庭和睦，团团圆圆。

The Chinese Lantern Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the Lunar New Year when the first full moon appears at night. Though the origin remained discussed, people believe that lantern show is one of the essential part of the festival, symbolizing family reunion and harmony.

此次挑战制作的冰墩墩造型的彩灯高达5.5英尺，纯手工制作，耗费了足足50英尺的七色彩布，400英尺的铁丝，以及4种丙烯涂料。

This unique lantern in the shape of Bing Dwen Dwen was 5.5 feet tall and totally handcrafted, costing 50 feet of cloth of seven different colors, 400 feet of iron wires and four types of acrylic paintings for decoration.

自贡一家彩灯制作公司的工作人员花了整整三天时间，从设计，焊接，裱糊，彩绘……才制作出了这个小可爱。

It took the local company three days to design, solder, mask, and assemble this cutie.

彩灯总设计师张瑜师傅表示，这次挑战不算他彩灯制作生涯中的特别难的一次尝试。通常一场灯会得耗费半年时间，才能成功举办，呈现给全国各地观众，而那些彩灯常常高达19英尺以上。

According to Zhang Yu, the chief designer, this is not a big deal in his entire career. Usually, a successful lantern show takes half a year for him to present it to the world, some of which could be over 19 feet tall.

自贡，一个以彩灯制作而远近闻名的城市，它悠远流长的彩灯制作历史可追溯到唐宋年间。现在，自贡彩灯已经成为了一种文化活动，常常伴有丰富多彩的表演以及缤纷绚丽的展览。据统计，自贡彩灯展已经遍布全球80多个国家和地区，累计接待游客5亿余人次。

Zigong, a city renowned for lantern-making, is blessed with long-lasting lantern shows which can be traced back to the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1279) dynasties and now holds various cultural activities with performances and night markets. It has held lantern shows in over 80 countries and regions around the world, attracting a total of over 500 million visitors.
