Sichuan Volunteers at the Winter Olympics

2月4日，北京冬奥会启幕，作为一名冬奥志愿者，来自四川仁寿的罗元梓被分配到2022北京新闻中心，负责每天的新闻稿件撰写。和她一起参与志愿者服务的，还有00后川妹子——来自四川宜宾的段沁雨。

The Beijing 2022 Olympic Games kicked off on February 4. As a volunteer for Beijing 2022, Luo Yuanzi from Renshou,Sichuanwas assigned to the 2022 BeijingMediaCenter responsible for news release, together with volunteer Duan Qinyu, a girl born in the Z generation from Yibin,Sichuan.

每天早上7点，两位在北京上学的女孩早早从学校出发，前往北京新闻中心。罗元梓负责收集各种信息，进行处理、整合、登记。从一开始的手忙脚乱，到现在做得井井有条。段沁雨的工作是向人们推荐中国的图书，与此同时，她还客串当起了四川文化推荐官。

The two girls head to the2022 BeijingMediaCenterfrom school early at 7am every morning. Luo Yuanzi is responsible for collecting and handling related information, while Duan Qinyu for recommending Chinese books. Besides, Duan also works as a reference for Sichuan culture.

“冰墩墩的原型是四川大熊猫，我也会向周围朋友介绍四川的人文风情。”她提到，在冰雪资源这块，四川有诸如西岭雪山等滑雪胜地，她安利朋友来四川体验冰雪运动，感受四川的风土人情。

"The design of Bing Dwen Dwen, mascot of the Beijing 2022, is based on Sichuan giant pandas. I will also introduce Sichuan’s culture and customs to my friends." she said. Sichuan hasmany ski resorts, for example the Xiling Snow Mountain resort. She always recommended friends to Sichuan to experience winter sports and appreciate local customs.

冬奥遇上春节，不一样的年味

a Different Taste of Chinese Lunar New Year

一直坚守在冬奥志愿者岗位，今年，两位四川女孩没法和家人一起过春节。“第一次没有在家人身边过春节，就想着妈妈做的香肠。不过，这样的经历很难得，会一辈子难忘。”罗元梓说。

As volunteers in the Beijing Winter Olympics, the two girls won't be able to celebrate Spring Festival with their families this year. "It was my first New Year without my family, and I missed the homemade sausages so much. However, the experience is so rare and unforgettable!” Luo said.

考虑到春节期间，志愿者不能回家团聚，志愿者之家和学校也为年轻的志愿者们准备了丰富的活动。结束完志愿者工作后，段沁雨会和同学们一起包饺子、聚餐、玩桌游，或是来一场酣畅淋漓的羽毛球大赛。不一样的庆祝方式，让她们深感如家般的温暖。

Considering that volunteers cannot go home during the Spring Festival, the volunteer center prepared all kinds of activities, such as making dumplings, having dinners together, and playing table games and badminton ,to make them feel like home.

2月4日晚，北京冬奥会开幕。“当看见用二十四节气来倒计时，觉得很惊艳。一种民族自豪感突然涌来。” 段沁雨提到，过往，自己只是一名旁观者，在屏幕前感受奥运会，但这一次，自己正亲身参与这项盛会，沉浸式去感受这项赛会的独特魅力。

The opening ceremony of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics began on February 4. “The countdown using the Twenty-Four Solar Terms really amazed me. I am so proud of my Country.” Duan Qinyusaid. “I watched the Olympics on the screen in the past, while this time, I am really participating in the event and feeling the unique charm of Olympics.”

段沁雨说，这场于北京举办的冬奥会，是家国情怀和体育精神的融合，在这里，能深刻感受到奥林匹克精神给人带来的震撼。而在罗元梓心中，冬奥会是一扇窗户，让更多人看见冰雪运动，感受冰雪运动，更重要的是，它还吸引更多普通人来参与冰雪运动。

Duan Qinyusaid that the Beijing Winter Olympics is a fusion of patriotism and sportsmanship where people can deeply feel the inspiration of the Olympic spirit. Luo Yuanzi believed that Beijing Winter Olympics is just like a window for people to discover and feel the charm and participate in winter sports.

“等冬奥会结束后，我这个体育小白就准备去打卡西岭雪山，亲身体验一把滑雪的乐趣!”说到此处，罗元梓的眼中已充满期待。

“I am looking forward to going to Xiling Snow Mountain to experience skiing after the Beijing Winter Olympics!” Luo Yuanzi said.
