Wanglang Nature Reserve, located in Pingwu County, Sichuan Province, was established in 1963 and is one of the first nature reserves established in China to protect rare wildlife and their habitats. The unique natural ecosystem here has nurtured many wild animals and plants such as giant pandas, cattle antelopes, and arisaema parvum.
Even if you don't bump into a cute panda, you will be enchanted by the folklore and scenery of the place. It is beautiful in all seasons, with snow to enjoy in spring and winter, cool summer to escape from the heat, and spectacular autumn with red leaves all over the mountains.
Here, you can also experience an ancient cultural art form, Tiaocaogai. In this activity, dancers will wear masks representing different identities and specially made costumes in different disguises to dance with exaggerated postures. This activity is a form to show their worship of nature, ward off disasters and pray for good fortune.
