Cundong Haizi is an alpine lake located in Muli Tibetan Autonomous County. The lake is deep blue from a distance, but clear when watched closely. A gentle breeze will make it shine like a diamond.

The surrounding mountains hug the lake, which in turn reflects the mountains. There are various "floating islands" on the lake. Look closely, you will find those are actually meadows moving slowly with wind and water, unlike other wetland meadows, which grow fixedly.

Locals in Muli said that people will never get tired of Cundong Haizi, because it has different beauty in different seasons.

Every time when it comes to Shangri-La, a picturesque "heaven on earth" pops up in our minds. Joseph Locke, an explorer, who has been to Muli for three times and was deeply shocked by the scenery and culture there, called Muli "a garden favored by god".
