The chirp of long-horned grasshoppers marks the arrival of summer. Long-horned grasshoppers are good singers. Their voice can be either loud and clear, or low and deep, making the world melodious.

Their beautiful singing depends on a pair of incumbent wings which rub to produce sounds. Only the male long-horned grasshoppers can sing, and the females are equipped with acoustic organs to hear. The male long-horned grasshoppers sing for courtship. When two of them meet, they will sing the "battle song" and hold the tentacles to prepare for the fight. When a long-horned grasshopper senses danger, it will sing loud to warm other fellows.
