To survive, many animals have learnt to disguise themselves and the common map butterfly is one of them.
Common map butterflies fly slowly and usually pause on the top of trees and stones with their wings open and flat. When they are resting, they blend in the environment especially on the limestone.
Common map butterflies live in the evergreen broad-leaf forests, littoral forests, and city greenbelt in South China and southwestern China. The adult butterflies fly briskly, pick nectar, rotten fruits, and absorb water. Its pupa is like a withered leave. The larvae can blend in the green leaves and change their colors according to the environment, hiding well.
