InMay,the Notocrypta curvifascia isactive. Clad in black, they may lie on the leaves to bask in the sun or suck nectar among theflowers. They always maintain a high degree of vigilance. Once they are in danger, they will fly away quickly, and their movements are agile, just like the "man in black" with extraordinary martial arts.
The Notocrypta curvifascia is a famous nest-builder. The egg period is about 5 days. The newly hatched caterpillar has a yellow-brown body, about 2 mm in length, and with a large black head-shell.
After coming out of their shells, they rest only for a while and then start making their nests. After the nest is made, they start to live like "homemakers" and rarely go out. This is done to effectively prevent enemy attacks. Then, the caterpillars wait for their metamorphosis into butterflies.
