In the past few days, in Chengdu Jincheng Lake Park, many photographers have recorded the grey herons chasing and playing in the forest. Their graceful and agile gestures are like natural dancers.

The grey heron is a large wading bird with a grey upper body and a white belly. It has a slender head, neck, feet, and beak. It is slender and extremely agile.

Thegrey herons generally live along river banks, shallow lakes, swamps, reservoirs, and shallow waters on grassy beaches. Theseelegant-looking herons are excellent predators. Their main food is a variety of fish. They adopts a "wait for windfalls" predation strategy: standing on a bulge or edge of the water for a long time, waiting for the prey to swim to the side, and then reaching out instantly. With their curved neck, they grab their prey with the long and pointed beaks and swallow the prey directly. Because of this, the grey heron also got an interesting and vivid name –"Changbo Lao Deng” in Chinese, meaning that a bird with a long neck is good at waiting for the prey.
