In the category of Magnoliaceae, there are two kinds of rare and beautiful flowers which areunique to China, and one of them, Oyama wilsonii, is the topic today. In China, it is the "Tiannv Hua", meaning "the heavenly maid flower."

As a unique species in China, Oyama wilsonii was discovered in Sichuan Province by a famous British botanist Henry Wilson, who is called "the man who opened the garden of western China".
