The flowers of urophysa rockii are beautiful and special. They bloom every year from December to March of the following year. The temperature change will also cause the color of the flowers to change, usually from violet-blue, blue-white, to white. This species is endemic to Sichuan.
In 2005, this rare plant was discovered in the Guanwushan Nature Reserve in Jiangyou City. At that time, experts and scholars went to Jiangyou for many field investigations and found that there were only more than 2,000 plants in Jiangyou. The largest population was located in a very small area of Fuljiang River, "Da Sang Yuan", which was the submerged area of the Wudu Reservoir under construction, with a total of more than 1,500 plants.
To protect the urophysa rockii in this submerged area, the Wudu Reservoir, which was originally planned to store water in late December 2010, was delayed until late April of the following year, when these dormant grasses began to be transplanted to their "New Home". By mid-June, more than 1,500 plants of urophysa rockii had all been relocated. The survival rate of the year was over 90%, and the off-site planting work was successfully completed.
