In front of Ciyun Temple in Dongping Village, Wudou Town, Jiangyou City, Mianyang, Sichuan, two Chinese Pistache trees are growing opposite each other. The two ancient trees are 30 meters in height, with an average crown width of 30 meters and a diameter at breast height of 1.78 meters and 1.3 meters respectively. They are about 350 years old.

It is said that in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, during the "Hu-Guang filling Sichuan" process, Dongping Village welcomed many immigrants. Some people build temples. When the temple was built, the monks planted two Chinese pistache trees in front of the gate. The people who had left their hometowns placed their nostalgia on the Chinese pistache.

In 2008, these ancient trees were damaged in the Wenchuan earthquake, and some of their roots were exposed. The local people raised funds to buy nutrient soil for the ancient trees so that the roots could return to the earth; they also built fortresses and protective fences to avoid soil erosion.

To protect the ancient trees, the Jiangyou Natural Resources Agency inspects their growth conditions every year and removes the old and withered branches on the trees. Meantime, specific guardians are also arranged for these trees.

Today, under the blue sky, the branches of these ancient trees sway in the wind and stretch freely.
