In the Gaoping Community of Yumen Town, Yanbian County, Panzhihua City, there is a 1,100-year-old talia. The tree is 13 meters in height, 3.2 meters in diameter at breast height, and has an average crown width of 14 meters. It is rated as one of "the most popular ancient and famous trees" in Sichuan Province.
According to a legend, two black birds once settled here. They always stayed together and loved each other. However, every day is not Sunday. One black bird died suddenly, and the other was grief-stricken and then left after a few days.
In the place where the black birds died, a tilia broke through the ground. After thousands of years, this small sapling has grown into a mighty, tall, and unparalleled tree, a symbol of unswerving love.
Sadly, in a storm in 2007, nearly two-thirds of the branches of the Talia were broken off. Despite the loss of its tall stature, local villagers still show respect to the tree, "even if it dies, it will not be cut down or burned."
