In early winter every year, there are always black-headed gulls by the Yangtze River in Sichuan. They come from far away Siberia, all the way to the south. Sichuan is just a "station" in their long journey. Their destination is the warm “Spring City”-Kunming.
Sichuan is the place they must pass through on their migration route. In Luzhou, Yibin, Leshan and other places by the rivers and lakes, people often encounter thesefriends who come from far away.
Compared with other birds, the black-headed gull is not only good-looking, but also bold and loves to be close to people. When they rest on the riverside, they will not only dance in the air, but also eat bread and other food fed by the citizens.
This intimate interaction also makes it very popular. For example, Kunming officials have formulated policies to protect black-headed gulls, organize citizens to participate in protection actions, and feed them at designated points. Due to the large number of black-headed gulls that regularly reside in Kunming, Kunming is also known as the "Home of the Black-Headed Gull in China".
