关于猞猁，民间有个传说：青藏高原上的雪豹、兔狲、猞猁原本是三兄弟，老大兔狲任劳任怨，把好吃的都留给了两个弟弟，所以自己就长得矮粗;雪豹是老三，有两个哥哥宠，所以肤白貌美，身手矫捷;而猞猁作为中间的一个，前有大哥挑家，后有弟弟哭闹，所以它也就成了最不起眼的一个。

There is a folk legend about the lynx:Originally,on the Tibetan plateau, the snow leopard, the Pallas' Catand the lynx were brothers, the eldest worked hard and savedfood for his two brothers, so he grew short and stubby; the snow leopard was the third, with two brothers to spoil him, so he becamebeautiful and agile; and the lynx, as the middle one, had his elder brother bearing the burden and his younger brotherpampering, so he became the least noticeableof all.

在民间故事中不起眼的猞猁，在自然界中是低调有实力的代表。猞猁体型似猫，但比猫大得多，属于中型猛兽。猞猁从来就不是一个好惹的主，只是由于体型较小，导致一直被人们低估了，实际上它就是一个缩小版的“百兽之王”。

The lynx, even unremarkable in folktale, is actually understated in nature. Itis similar in size to a cat but much larger, and is a medium-sized beast. The lynx has never been an easy nut to crack, but has always been underestimated due to its small size, and is in fact a smaller version of the "king of beasts".
