今天登场的这位叫做豹猫。和豹子类似，豹猫的体表有黑色斑点，但从不连成垂直的条纹。明显的白色条纹从鼻子一直延伸到两眼间，常常到头顶。因其身上的斑点很像古时候的铜钱，所以豹猫在我国又被称作“钱猫”。

Similar to the leopard,the leopard cat has black spots on its body but nota continuous vertical stripe. The white stripe extends from itsnose to the eyes and often to the top of the head. The spots on its body resemble ancient copper coins,thereforethe leopard cat is known as the "money cat" in China.

豹猫的体型和家猫相仿，但更加纤细，腿更长。尾巴又粗又长，几乎是身长的一半。南方种的毛色基调是淡褐色或浅黄色，而北方的毛基色显得更灰。

The leopard cat is about the size of adomestic cat, but is more slender and has longer legs. The tail is thick and long, almost half the length of the body. The fur of the southern breed is light brown or light yellow, while the northernbreedappears more gray.

豹猫的视力比人类强很多，即使是最轻微的动作也能察觉。它们的胡须根部充满神经末梢，能察觉到轻微的碰触或气流扰动。它们可以听到一些人类听不到的声音，分辨许多种不同的气味。

Leopard cats have much better eyesight than humans and can detect even the slightest movement. The roots of their whiskers are full of nerve endings and can detect the slightest touch or disturbanceof airflow. They can hear sounds that humans cannot hear and distinguish many different kinds of scents.
