Ducks usually plunge headfirst into the water, leaving rippling waves on the surface. But if one day, a water bird pokes out of the water and rolls its eyes at you, don't get angry, you are lucky to have met a Ferruginous duck.

白眼潜鸭又被称为白眼凫，是一种深水鸟类。白眼潜鸭的胸部是浓栗色，上腹部是白色，下腹部是淡棕褐色。它的嘴巴是黑灰色或者黑色，脚是银灰色或者橄榄绿色，雄鸟的虹膜是银白色，雌鸟的灰褐色。

The Ferruginous duck, also known as the white-eyed teal, is a deep-water bird. With its beak dark-gray or black, feet silvery-gray or olive-green, irises silvery-white on males and grayish-brown on females, it has a chestnut breast, a white upper belly and a light-tan underbelly.

它们喜欢生活在有水生植物的湖泊、池塘、沼泽等等地方，经常栖息在有芦苇和水草的水面，一些干的植物茎叶以及羽毛是它们筑巢的主要材料，觅食的花样很多，但主要的还是潜水取食，一些植物性食物是它们的主要食物。

They usually live in lakes, ponds, marshes and other places with aquatic plants, often perching on the surface of the water with reeds and water plants. They use dry plant stems and leaves as well as feathers to build nests and forage for food in many ways, but mainly diving for some plants.

Ferruginous Duck is very timid and cautious, usually moves around in the early morning and dusk. It is listed as a near-threatened species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, if you see it, please do not disturb it and just watch from a distance.
