The emblem is inspired by the Chinese character 'Dong'(冬). Its upper part shows the image of a skater while the lower part displays the posture of a skier. The Chinese character ‘Fei’(飞) is skillfully transformed into the image of an athlete sliding forward to win, vividly showing the wheelchair, the special sports equipment applied in the Paralympic Games. The upper part of the emblem is vigorous and tortuous, while the lower part is soft and mellow, implying that athletes will finally reach their goals and achieve their dreams through endless efforts.
The design inspiration of its headshell comes from the ice sports helmet, and the flowing bright colorful lines symbolize the track of the ice sports and 5G. The heart pattern in the left palm represents China’s warm welcome to friends all over the world. The overall image resembles the astronaut, which embodies the pursuit of excellence and innovation in the future.
This mascot takes the Chinese lantern as the prototype, representing harvest, joy, warmth and light. The S-shaped Chinese ruyi on the top symbolizes auspiciousness and happiness. The continuous pattern of doves and the Temple of Heaven symbolize peace and friendship. The lantern is colored in brilliant red beloved by the Chinese to enhance the carnival atmosphere of the 2022 Chinese New Year. Its body emits light to enlighten the dream and warm the world, which not only represents friendship, courage and tenacity, but reflects the fighting spirit of the athletes and the inspiring concept of the Paralympic Winter Games.
Against the backdrop of the global COVID-19, the slogan of this Olympic Winter Games speaks of ‘together’, ‘shared’, and ‘future’. ‘Together’ shows the strong will of human beings in the face of difficulties, pointing out the way to tide over the crisis and recover the bright future. ‘For a Shared Future’ expresses mankind's vision for a better tomorrow and conveys confidence and hope. ‘Together for a Shared Future’ is an attitude, an initiative and even a plan of action. The 16th Olympic Winter Games, held in 1992 in Albertville, France, was the last one to be held in the same year as the Olympic Summer Games. Chinese athletes won three silver medals, the first time for China to win a precious medal at the Winter Olympics since 1980. Ye Qiaobo, one of the female athletes, fought hard with injuries and won two silver medals in both the 500m and 1000m speed skating events.
The 19th Olympic Winter Games was held in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. There were 78 sports events, the highest number in the history of the Olympic Winter Games. Yang Yang from China, a short-track speed skater, became the first Chinese athlete to win the first gold medal at the Winter Olympics.
