    Chengdu and Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, become friends

    In October 2021, the Mayor of Chengdu and the Mayor of Ljubljana exchanged letters to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the friendship city relationship between the two cities.

    The mayor of Ljubljana, Zoran Jankovic, said in a letter –

    I am delighted to see that in recent years, the two cities have developed mutually beneficial cooperation in many areas such as culture, arts, education, science and technology and have commuicated experiences and practices that have been of great value. I am particularly proud of the fact that 10 years ago, I was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen" of Chengdu. The ceremony held in your city is still very fresh in my mind today.

    I am regretful that my life has been affected to a large extent by the COVID-19, we are in two places, but we are thinking of each other and trying our best to help each other. Our actions have deepened the relationship between Slovenia and China and strengthened the friendship between the two cities and countries.

    In the future, I will do my utmost to continue to enhance and strengthen cooperation between the two cities.

    It's worth mentioning that Ljubljana is the first foreign capital city to be associated with Chengdu.
