Modern poetic dance drama "Dongpo Life in Poems" staged in Chengdu

As a melodious ancient qin music echoed, dancers moved gracefully with distinctive charm. On the evening of December 8th, the modern poetic dance drama "Dongpo Life in Poems" officially premiered at the Chengdu City Concert Hall. This Chengdu performance marks the first return to Sichuan for the play, with three consecutive shows from December 8th to 10th.

Su Dongpo, a name familiar to every Chinese, is a brilliant gem in history and a towering peak in culture. The play opens with poetry, recalling memories and departing from traditional narrative. It artistically presents the spiritual core of Chinese culture nurtured in Dongpo's poems. Using a new visual and rhythmic presentation of dance, it showcases the imagery and emotions of Dongpo from a millennium ago. The entire performance flows with poetic charm, a serene atmosphere, and creates a unique artistic ambiance and audio-visual feast by blending Eastern and Western artistic styles. It leads the audience into a comprehensive art space where traditional culture is appreciated in the context of contemporary aesthetics and philosophy.

"Dongpo Life in Poems" has garnered widespread attention since its national premiere. It is reported that the play will also be performed at the Shaanxi Grand Theater on December 15th-16th, meeting the audience in the ancient capital.
