合川马门溪龙是世界上知名度最高的中国恐龙，亚洲完整恐龙化石中的最大者。

Hechuan Mamensaurus is the most recognizable Chinese dinosaur in the world and the largest of all complete dinosaur fossils in Asia.

把他“请”回家后，就要把包裹在化石外的岩石和泥土彻底清除干净，恢复恐龙骨骼的本来面目。

After taking him home, it’s necessary to completely remove the rocks and mud wrapped around him and restore him.

这个过程要用到非常多的工具：锤子、凿子、空气压缩机、气动打磨笔…...

Many tools should be used in the process: hammers, chisels, air compressors, pneumatic sanding pens…

师傅们先把化石周围大片的围岩去除，再慢慢剔除化石附近的薄层围岩，直到围岩全部清除干净，化石完整地被“抠”了出来。精修之后，化石的结构和纹理会更清晰。但它们依然是破碎和零散的，用作展览观赏性欠佳。

Conservators first removed large rocks around the fossil, then slowly removed the thinner ones near the fossil until completely cleaned all the rocks and get a completely clean fossil. After the process, the structure and texture of the fossils were clearer. However, the fossils were still fragmented, and were not perfect enough for exhibition.

在尘土飞扬的修复现场，修复师根据翻模补全恐龙骨架缺失的部分，涂上胶水，填上石膏，进行固定。

Conservatorsmade up the missing part of the dinosaur skeleton according to the mould by applying glue and filling it with plaster to fix it.

每根骨头都有它该去的地方，也有它专属的编号。为了让他美美地站在大家面前，其中的一些骨头化石需要再刷一些涂料，每一根骨头也都需要连接起来，紧密团结在主心骨周围。接下来是重要而繁琐的一步：给每一根骨头打眼儿。

Every bone had the place to go and had its own number. In order to let him stand in front of us, some of his bones were painted again, and each bone should be connected unitedly around his spine. Here, the first tedious step came: conservators need to punch the bones.

正所谓“恐龙骨头穿铁丝——有粗有细”。松了一口气后，又迎来更加繁琐的下一步：给每一根骨头眼儿里穿上铁丝。不同型号的骨头，会配上不同规格的铁丝。

After a short break came the mosttedious procedure: conservators had to put an iron wire in each hole of each bone. Anddifferent bones were matched with different kind of iron wires.

众所周知，不会电焊的画家不是好的恐龙修复师。这是因为，龙之大，需要好多钢铁架。在把巨大无比的马门溪龙一块一块地搭起来之前，师傅要先给恐龙化石焊一个高大坚固的钢架。然后，把刚才那些恐龙局部往上垒，固定成型。

The larger thedinosaur is, the more scaffoldings it will need. So, conservators built a tall and strong steel frame first and thenassembled his bones.

最后，这堆宛若羊蝎子的恐龙零部件终于可以下火锅，不对，可以在一亿五千多万年后，完美复原出最大蜥脚类恐龙的风采了!

Finally, after more than 150 million years, our oldest friendmade his debut!

确认过眼神，他已经是一只成熟的镇馆之宝，可以在博物馆展厅独自站好，刮风不摇、下雨不倒，闭馆以后也不会偷偷乱跑!这具合川马门溪龙已经在成都理工大学“生活”了60年，即将搬入成都自然博物馆，开馆后来一场恐龙约会吧!
