On March 13, Yu Shuang and his teammates fought hard in the final of the open 4 × 2.5 kilometre relay cross-country skiing race at the 2022 Winter Paralympicsand finally won the fourth place. The para athlete born after the year 2000, from Sichuan's Qu County also officially ended his first Paralympic journey.
Just two days ago, on March 11, Yu Shuang won the bronze medal in the men's biathlon 12.5km (visually impaired group) competition at the Beijing Winter Paralympics.
"It was worth it to spend five years of my youth." On March 11, after coming down from the podium at the Winter Paralympics, Yu Shuang posted this post on her WeChat moments.
Yu Shuang, who was born in 2003, is from Quxian County, Sichuan Province. Born with a visual impairment, he has to work thousands of times harder than ordinary people in both life and study. When he was in junior high school, Yu Shuang became a member of the school track and field team due to his tall stature and his fondness for running.
In 2018, the Beijing Disabled Persons' Federation went to Qu County to select outstanding para athletes, and Yu Shuang was successfully selected. It was also from then on that he began to engage in cross-country skiing.
Before 2018, Yu Shuang had no experience with skiing. He started from scratch, trained hard, and skied 65 kilometers at the longest. Through trainingand persistence, this generation Zer, Yu has begun to emerge in national competitions.
“Overall, the results were very satisfactory,” Yu said of the Winter Paralympics. After the Winter Paralympics, he will go home to spend time with his parents, since he has not been home for two years because of the preparations for the Winter Paralympics. Then he will enter the next cycle of preparation.
