"I visited Sichuan over a decade ago, and it has become more beautiful here!" On April 26th, after attending the Sichuan Provinceof China -Azerbaijan Investment and Trade Forumin Chengdu, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to China, Bunyad Huseynov, accepted an interview.

The ambassador stated that one of the important purposes of leading a delegation to visit Sichuan and attending the forumwas to promote economic and trade cooperation between Sichuan and Azerbaijan. "Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with Sichuan, especially in areas such as new energy and high technology. Azerbaijan looks to China for experience and technology in green energy, and the prospects for cooperation in this field are broad." In 2023, fruitful results were achieved in cooperation between Sichuan and Azerbaijan in fields such as facilities and equipment, textile materials, and new energy, with the total import and export volume reaching 710 million yuan, a 5.5-fold increase year-on-year.

The ambassador also mentioned that Sichuan has significant advantages in Sichuan-Azerbaijan cooperation. "Sichuan is a highland of technological innovation, and many of its technological products have entered the lives of the Azerbaijani people."

In terms of cultural exchanges, there is close interaction between Sichuan and Azerbaijan. In March 2018, the Azerbaijani Embassy in China and the Foreign Affairs Office of Sichuan Province jointly held an "Azerbaijan Music Night." In July 2023, the renowned Liangshan Prefecture Song and Dance Troupe, performed in Azerbaijani at the Silk Road International Music Festival. The ambassador also revealed that Azerbaijan intends to open direct flights from its capital, Baku, to Sichuan, which will make travel between the two countries more convenient and promote closer exchanges between the two places.

The ambassador expressed a small wishof his own: "I hope that one day, we can see pandas from Sichuanin Azerbaijan's zoos!"

At the Sichuan Provinceof China -Azerbaijan Investment and Trade Forumheld on that day, CCPITSichuan Council and the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency signed a memorandum of cooperation. In the future, the two sides will promote communication between the business communities of Sichuan and Azerbaijan, develop trade and investment cooperation, strive to provide business exchanges and cooperation platforms for entrepreneurs, promote mutual visits of trade and investment delegations or project investigation groups, and organize enterprises to participate in relevant forums and exhibitions as appropriate.
