The Documentary "Isabel - I Choose China" to Premiere

On December 15th, a decade-long recorded biographical documentary named "Isabel- I ChooseChina" will premiere nationwide on the Documentary Channel of the China Central Radio and Television Station at 8 p.m. It will also be featured at 9:10 p.m. on Sichuan Satellite TV.
Isabel, a renowned Canadian educator, anthropologist, pioneer in foreign language education in People’s Republic of China, and an observer of the social transformations in 20th-century China. Overseas media dubbed her as "one of the most famous foreign residents in China." Throughout her century-long life, at every crucial juncture, she steadfastly chose to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Chinese people. For her wholehearted dedication to Chinese education and international exchanges, she was awarded the Friendship Medal of the People's Republic of China in 2019. Isabel peacefully passed away in Beijing on August 20th this year at the age of 107.

Isabel was a foreign friend with a special significance for China and Sichuan. She regarded China as her primary homeland and Sichuan as the province she cherished the most. In her youth, she engaged in social research in rural areas such as Hanyuan, Lixian, and Bishan in Chongqing. At the age of 104, she revisited places from her childhood in Huaxiba of Chengdu and Bailu Town in Pengzhou. She proved through her legendary life that humanity can transcend race and nationality, understand each other, and collaborate, vividly illustrating the profound meaning of a "community with a shared future for mankind."
