    Humans' love and pursuit of delicious food is a common and universal instinct, and also a medium for cultural exchange and emotional expression.

    川菜,是对话世界的“中国流量”之一。2022年,四川国际传播中心推出了包含多个创意子栏目的多语种视频栏目《川菜遇见》。通过“川菜遇见米其林”、 “川菜遇见中国节”等多个系列,以接地气的内容、高品质的调性、品牌化的包装,将“川菜遇见”持续IP化,以川菜这一小切口,向世界推介四川文化、四川生活。

    Sichuan cuisine is one of the most famous IP in the world. In 2022, Sichuan International Communication Center launched a multilingual video program "Sichuan Cuisine Encounters…", which includes several creative sub-series such as "Sichuan Cuisine Encounters Michelin Restaurants" and "Sichuan Cuisine Encounters Chinese Festivals". These videos promote the IP of Sichuan cuisine, and showcase to the world the Sichuan culture as well as Sichuan lifestyle.

    即日起,四川国际传播中心推出全新跨文化交流访谈系列栏目——《川菜遇上总领事》,邀请来自世界各地的总领事,以川菜为主题,开展“美食会友”的跨文化交流访谈。在展示川菜烹饪技艺、品味川菜百味,共同畅聊国与国、地与地之间的美食故事的同时,展示不同菜系背后的文化和价值观,立体体现四川饮食文化的独特性、包容性和创造性。

    Now, a new cross-cultural exchange interview series Sichuan Cuisine Encounters Consul Generals:Spice Up the Diplomacy, is globally available online! Consul Generals from around the world are invited to participate in the cross-cultural exchange interviews on the theme of Sichuan cuisine. The program showcases the cooking skills and diverse flavours of Sichuan cuisine while discussing the stories of food between countries and regions, highlighting the culture and values behind different culinary traditions. Through this series, the unique, inclusive, and creative nature of Sichuan food culture is fully demonstrated.

    本期,我们邀请到了奥地利驻成都总领事馆总领事雷君山(Mr. Günther Lazelsberger)先生。

    To kick off the new series, we have invited Mr. Günther Lazelsberger, the Consul General of the Austrian Consulate General in Chengdu, China, as our first guest.

    1966年7月29日出生于上奥地利州林茨市。2012年7月至2016年7月,任奥地利驻华大使馆秘书(副领事)。2016年7月至2017年7月奥地利外交部东欧、南高加索和中亚处科员,奥地利驻亚美尼亚和乌兹别克斯坦大使馆秘书(馆址位于维也纳)。2017年7月至2022年7月奥地利驻慕尼黑总领事馆领事。自2022年7月底至今,任奥地利驻成都总领事。

     

    行遍世界的他,除了资深外交官以外,还有另一个标签,资深吃货。刚到成都履新,雷君山就因为爱吃、会吃,成为了网红!雷君山分享了他在四川最爱的“一周午餐”,担担面、铺盖面、脆臊面、炸酱面、燃面、焖面……可以天天不重样!

    Besides being recognized as a senior diplomat, those who have travelled around the world often acquire another label: a senior foodie.

    Shortly after taking up his new post in Chengdu, Mr. Günther Lazelsberger became an internet celebrity due to his love for food. He shared his favourite "one-week lunch in Sichuan", which includes Dandan noodles, Pugai wide noodles, crispy minced meat noodles, Zha Jiang Mian, Yibin Ran noodles, braised noodles, and etc. He can choose different delicacies every day!

    20多年前,雷君山第一次来到中国,便尝试了川菜。殊滋异味中,有麻辣鲜香,有鲜嫩清淡,但其中有一道菜令他印象深刻。虽然20多年过去,他早已不记得那道菜确切的名字,但有一种神秘的味道,从那以后却一直刻印在他的味蕾。

    Over 20 years ago, Mr. Günther Lazelsberger had his first Sichuan cuisine when he visited China for the first time. Among the various flavours, one dish left a deep impression on him. Although he cannot recall the exact name of the dish after more than two decades, its mysterious flavour has been imprinted on his taste buds.

    2022年7月底,雷君山正式履新奥地利驻成都总领事,开启属于他的四川时间。

    Mr. Günther Lazelsberger officially began his role as the Consul General of Austria in Chengdu in the late July of 2022, marking the start of his Sichuan journey.

    时隔多年,再次来到四川,雷君山仍不忘他心中这最“四川”的味道。而这味道,正是花椒。

    Returning to Sichuan again, he finally recognised the quintessential "flavour of Sichuan" that has remained in his heart. And the flavour, turns out to be Sichuan pepper.

    花椒,是四川料理中最独特的佐料之一,常常不见其形而见其味。大多时候在川菜烹饪的第一步,花椒就已率先登台亮相。它就像各类食材黏合剂,只需一点,就能使不同食材的风味,呈现出一种最“四川”的味道。

    Sichuan peppercorn is one of the most distinctive seasonings in Sichuan cuisine, often tasted but not easily visible. Typically, Sichuan peppercorn is the first seasoning used in Sichuan cuisine. It acts like a binding agent, requiring only a small amount to bring out the flavours of different ingredients and create the unique flavour of Sichuan.

    雷君山说,花椒于川菜的作用,让他联想到奥地利与四川在产业领域的合作。“虽不是非常打眼,但早已潜移默化地融入两地人民的生活之中。”

    Mr. Günther Lazelsberger remarked that the significance of Sichuan pepper in Sichuan cuisine reminds him of the cooperation between Austria and Sichuan in the industrial field. "Although it may not be particularly attention-grabbing, it has seamlessly integrated into the lives of people in both regions,"he added.

    “例如,奥地利生产的机场消防车、电脑零部件、红酒的醒酒器等,早已成为四川人民生活的一部分,只是大多数人不知道它们来自奥地利。”同样, 四川出口到奥地利的太阳能电池和锂电池等,也早已经广泛运用在奥地利大街小巷的汽车上。

    "Examples can be found in people’s everyday life. Fire trucks at the airport, computer components, and wine decanters produced in Austria have already become commonplace in the lives of the people in Sichuan, even though locals here may not be aware of the places of origin of those products. Likewise, solar cells and lithium batteries exported from Sichuan to Austria have been extensively utilized in cars on the streets and alleys of Austria."

    在雷君山看来,这只见其味不见其形的两地合作,是四川和奥地利两地已经有良好合作基础的证明之一。但关于两地合作的未来,雷君山认为远不止于此。“不论是奥地利还是四川,我希望我们的产品不再是其他知名产品里某些部分,而是在两地居民心中占据更大的分量、成为更加明显的区域品牌。”雷君山直言。

    According to Mr. Günther Lazelsberger, the "invisible"cooperation between Sichuan and Austria can be the evidence of a strong foundation for the further collaboration of the two regions. "I hope that our products, whether from Austria or Sichuan, will no longer be mere components of those well-known products, but will become prominent regional brands that occupy a significant place in the hearts of the people in both regions," said him.

    事实上,四川和奥地利的合作正在多领域深化。据了解,目前,全球最大的水电机电设备系统和服务供应商奥地利安德里茨与四川省投资集团已合作10余年,双方将在高端水电装备研制和服务上挖掘更大合作潜力。奥地利联邦铁路公司与西南交通大学在铁路运营、管理和职业教育、培训方面也将持续加深合作,奥方先进经验将被引入四川,助力四川省轨道交通领域前沿科技成果的转化利用。

    在即将举行的第31届世界大学生夏季运动会上,奥地利也预计将带领35名运动员和15名教练组成的团组到成都参加。

    In fact, the cooperation between Sichuan and Austria is deepening in multiple fields. For instance, Andritz of Austria, the world's largest supplier of hydroelectric and electromechanical equipment and services, has been collaborating with Sichuan for over 10 years, and is set to explore greater potential in the development and services of high-end hydroelectric equipment. Additionally, the Austrian Federal Railways Company and Southwest Jiaotong University are continuing to deepen their cooperation in railway operation, management, vocational education, and training. The advanced experience from Austria will be introduced into Sichuan, assisting in the transformation and utilization of cutting-edge technological achievements in the field of rail transportation.

    Furthermore, Austria is expected to lead a delegation of 35 athletes and 15 coaches to participatein the upcoming 31st World University Summer Games in Chengdu.

    近年来,随着中国国际地位的不断提升和“一带一路”倡议的实施,四川积极参与全球化进程,加强了与欧洲、南亚、东南亚等国家和地区的经贸往来。四川与奥地利之间的经贸关系也日益密切,双方在能源、工业制造、文化旅游等领域的合作取得了显著成果,为加强中欧经贸往来作出了积极贡献。这些努力不仅提升了四川的国际影响力和品牌形象,也为全球经济和文化发展做出重要的贡献。

    The economic and trade between Sichuan and Austria has increased dramatically in recent years, with Sichuan actively participating in the globalization process and strengthening economic and trade relations with countries and regions such as Europe, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. This has led to significant achievements in cooperation in areas such as energy, industrial manufacturing, and cultural tourism, which have made a positive contribution to strengthening economic and trade exchanges between China and Europe. As a result, Sichuan's international influence and brand image have been enhanced, and important contributions have been made to global economic and cultural development.

    四川与奥地利之间的碰撞,正如白胡椒遇上花椒。东西方饮食的碰撞,将两国紧密联系在一起,热情、包容又细腻。

    The collision of Eastern and Western cuisine has closely linked Austria and Sichuan together with warmth, tolerance, and delicacy, just like when white pepper meets Sichuan pepper.

    饮食中的味道,不仅是味蕾的刺激与触感。口味的适应与兼容,才是对不同文化的碰撞后的融合与创新,最好的回答。

    The adaptability and compatibility of flavours is the best demonstration of how the fusion and innovation of different cultures creates a new and delicious culinary experience. And hope we all can find our own memorable flavour, in our journey of discovering different cultures and cuisines, which will enrich our lives and connect us with people from all over the world.
