He said he wants to come to Sichuan more often, even for the sake of Sichuan cuisine!

来华履新仅2个多月，智利驻华大使乌尔塔多选择了四川作为首次正式访问的中国地方省份。虽然这是大使首次来到四川，但热辣的川菜第一时间征服了他的胃，留下了他的心。

After taking his position in China for just over 2 months, Chilean Ambassador Hurtado chose Sichuan for his first official visit in China. Although this was the ambassador's first visit to Sichuan, the hot and spicy Sichuan cuisine immediately impressed him deeply.

“昨晚品尝到的回锅肉，口感真的很惊艳！还有那道精美的鸡豆花，制作的精良程度以及食材的选择完全出乎我的意料”。乌尔塔多表示，虽然在智利也有很多川菜馆，但来到四川，才发现川菜竟然有如此丰富的口味。

"The twice-cooked pork I tasted last night was truly amazing! And the exquisite chicken tofu was surprising." Hurtado said that although there are also many Sichuan restaurants in Chile, he realized that Sichuan cuisine has such a rich taste after visiting Sichuan.

2021年7月，智利驻成都总领事馆开馆，智利成为首个在四川省设立总领事馆的拉美国家。

In July 2021, the Consulate General of the Republic of Chile in Chengdu was opened, making Chile the first Latin American country with a Consulate General in Sichuan Province.

此次来川，乌尔塔多有一个重要行程是参加正在成都举办的“第108届全国糖酒商品交易会”。多年来，智利葡萄酒、果蔬等农副产品企业厂商早已是糖酒会的“常客”。“很高兴能看到车厘子、蓝莓、三文鱼等智利特色产品被越来越多中国朋友所喜爱。”

One of Hurtado's major trips to Sichuan was participating in the 108th China Food & Drinks Fair in Chengdu. Over the years, Chilean wine, fruit, and vegetable enterprise manufacturers have been "familiarvisitors" to the China Food & Drinks Fair. "I'm glad to see more and more Chilean products such as cherries, blueberries, salmon, and other specialties being enjoyed by more and more Chinese friends."

其实，四川和智利的合作早已不局限于大家所熟知的智利车厘子或者葡萄酒。

In fact, the cooperation between Sichuan and Chile has long been more than just Chilean cherriesor wine.

“智利和四川在诸多领域有很强的互补性。”乌尔塔多表示，十分看好四川和智利之间的合作潜力，这也是他选择四川作为首次正式访问的地方省份的原因之一。

"Chile and Sichuan have greatcomplementarities in many fields," Hurtado said.He is very optimistic about the potential cooperation between Sichuan and Chile, which is one of the reasons why he chose Sichuan for his first official visit.

乌尔塔多表示，四川在城市规划建设、科技创新、环保、抗震救灾等领域取得的长足发展都给他留下了深刻的印象。例如，成都建设“雪山下的公园城市”的理念让乌尔塔多倍感亲切，因为智利首都圣地亚哥也依偎在安第斯山脉脚下。他表示，“这对智利的城市建设非常有借鉴意义。”

Hurtado said that he was impressed by the significant development of Sichuan in many fields including city designing and construction, science and technology innovation, environmental protection, earthquake relief, etc. For example, the idea of building " A Park City under the Snow-cappedMountains" in Chengdu remindedHurtado ofhis country.The capital of Chile, Santiago, is also nestled at the foot of the Andes. He said, "This is precious for Chile's urban development."

此外，乌尔塔多还特意去了成都高新减灾研究所。“智利也深受地震困扰，四川在抗震减灾方面经验丰富，值得我们借鉴。希望能够加强与四川在抗震救灾科技研发领域的合作。”

In addition, Hurtado made a special trip to the Institute of Care-Life in Chengdu High-tech Zone. "Chile also suffers from earthquakes, and Sichuan is well experienced in earthquake relief, which is informative for us. We hope to strengthen cooperation with Sichuan in earthquake relief science and technology research and development."

对于川智两地的合作未来，乌尔塔多有更多的期待。例如，即将在成都举行的第31届世界大学生夏季运动会，将有很多智利的年轻运动员到四川同台竞技，并体验中国文化。乌尔塔多表示，希望通过体育这个媒介，促进中智双方在青少年领域的交流。

Hurtado has more expectations for the future of cooperation between Sichuan and Chile. For example, the upcoming Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games will bring many young Chilean athletes to Sichuan to compete on the same stage and experience Chinese culture. Hurtado said he hopes to promote exchanges between China and Chile in the youth field through sports.

“希望四川与智利早日开通直航，缩短我们之间的物理距离，便利双方货物往来和人员交流，也能进一步促进两国人文交流、旅游等各领域的合作。”乌尔塔多说。

"I hope that Sichuan and Chile will open direct flights as soon as possible to shorten the physical distance between us. This will facilitate the exchange of goods and people, and promotemore cooperation in various fields such as culturalexchanges and tourism between the two countries," Hurtado said.
