2023 "Journey Around Sichuan" Expert Symposium held in Chengdu

To have a good start in a new year, one needs to take action in spring. On the afternoon of February 21, the 2023 "Journey Around Sichuan" Expert Symposium hosted by Vision Sichuan under Sichuan Daily Press Group was held in Chengdu to further promote Sichuan's international communication, tell Sichuan's stories well and make Sichuan's voice heard globally. Industry experts and officials of relevant departments gathered together to conduct in-depth exchanges on “traditional Chinese culture going global”. They actively explored how to expand the development path of the event, and attract more foreigners and resources of international economic organizations, so as to build the brand event of “Journey Around Sichuan” into an exchange platform for international cultural and economic activities that serves the economic and social development of Sichuan Province.
As for how to better carry out the "Journey Around Sichuan" event, experts said at the symposium that in coordinating the province’s international communication work, Sichuan should revolve around the center, serve the overall situation, adhere to the national stance, global vision and Bashu characteristics, make sustained efforts in promotion, and strive to explore how to improve the influence of international communication, the appeal of Chinese culture, the affinity of China's image, the persuasiveness of China’s discourse and the ability to guide international public opinion. We should focus on the vivid practice of the Chinese path to modernization in Sichuan, make good use of the rich cultural resources of all cities and prefectures in Sichuan, innovate the forms of the event and carefully plan the themes, leverage the six international publicity resources of relics, Shu craftsmanship, figures and masterpieces, Sichuan opera, ethnic folk customs, and scenery and delicacies, and continue to polish the international publicity brand of "Bashu Culture Walk & Talk". It is also necessary to take advantage of the brand benefits of the "Journey Around Sichuan" event to go beyond and serve economic development, so as to realize the leap from a publicity product to an industrial platform. Experts spoke highly of Panda Guide, a new media product Vision Sichuan developed to serve foreigners in China. They believed that the mode of strengthening online interaction and in-depth experience and communication is conducive to expanding the “circle of friends” of foreigners, promoting cultural exchanges and people-to-people bond between Sichuan and other countries, and consolidating the global fan matrix of Bashu culture.
The "Journey Around Sichuan" event, launched in 2021, is a key project of Vision Sichuan for "traditional Chinese culture going global". Over the past two years, the event has been carried out around Sichuan's intangible cultural heritage, revolutionary culture, ancient Shu civilization, and rural revitalization. Meticulous efforts have been made to plan 12 theme experience activities, including "Trip of World Heritage · Scenery & Delicacies", "Trip of Ancient Shu Civilization · Magnificent Tianfu", "Visiting National Park · Tracing the Source of Pandas", and "Special Parent-child Luzhou & Zigong Tour". More than 100 foreign friends from 23 countries such as the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Japan and Australia have been organized to visit 13 cities, including Chengdu, Guangyuan, Meishan, Leshan, Yibin, Ziyang, Bazhong, Guang'an, Deyang, Mianyang, Ya'an, Luzhou and Zigong. Through the unique perspective and true feelings of foreign friends, the event has showed the beautiful natural scenery, splendid Bashu culture, virtuous people, healthy folk customs and the development of Sichuan in the new era to the international community. It has attracted 21.74 million viewers at home and abroad, and achieved good communication effects.
