The nymphs of planthoppers are usually white and fairylike. The imagoes are spotted, looking gorgeous. Despite the fact that they look pretty, they can be greatly harmful for crops and plants.

Take the Geisha distinctissima, a kind of planthoppers, for an example. This jade-eardrop-like insect will transmit morbigenous fungus to the plants when it takes in the juice of plants. And the beautifullycorma delicatula, having taken in the juice of plants, will discharge transparent and sticky honeydew which produces black sooty mould that interferes the photosynthesis and furtherimpair the plants’ growth when stays on the leaves. It can result in the leaf abscission, or worse, plants’ withering and death.
