Lychee Giant Stink Bug: Beautiful and Stink

The lychee giant stink bug looks beautiful. The imago is about 21-26 millimeters long and 11-13 millimeters wide. It’s reddish brown and looks like a small shield ending in a spoon-shaped dent. The edge is gray and the back is featured with red streaks.
However, lychee giant stink bugs are harmful for lychee and longan. They absorb the juice of spears, flowers and fruitlets, and cause the drop of flowers and fruits. According to the researches, the lychee giant stink bug’s greatest enemy is spiders, followed by insect predators and carnivorism birds.
Besides, when a lychee giant stink bug is frightened, it will release the stink corrosive liquid which can be harmful for both trees and human skin and eyes.
