The vermilion bird is one of the four symbols of the Chinese constellations. It is the "god"of the south and represents the Fire element. It has the symbolic meaning of dignity, good fortune, and deterrence of evil in ancient Chinese mythology

The vermilion bird gets its name from the vermilion color on the male, but the vinaceous rosefinch, one of vermilion bird species, is even more "red". The male vinaceous rosefinch has a deep red body - brownish red on the head and rose red on the waist feathers.

The vinaceous rosefinch is picky about its living conditions, which is rare among vermilion birds. Not only do they cover their nests with twigs and grass stems, but they also sometimes decorate their nests with moss and hair to ensure the comfort of their homes.
