    are listed in China’s Top 10

    New Archaeological Discoveries of 2021.

    获得中国社科院考古所

    主办的中国考古新发现之后

    再获业界殊荣。

    After the two archaeological projects

    were awarded New Archaeological Discoveries

    in China sponsored by

    Chinese Academy of Social Sciences,

    they caught the eye again.

    Sichuan Archaeology's star ‘couple’ is here

    One of them excavated the relics

    of Acheulean technology

    with the highest altitude in the world,

    and the other has recently unearthed the world's largest bronze mask.

    通过公开投票的方式从20个项目中选出。

    China's Top 10 New Archaeological Discoveries of 2021 were eventually chosen from 20 final-round candidates by 21 top-tier scholars in the country through votes by open ballot.

    1. Piluo Paleolithic site in Daocheng county, Sichuan province, dating back at least 130,000 years.

    2. Huangshan site, Nanyang, Henan province, dating back over 5,000 years.

    3. Jijiaocheng site, Lixian county, Hunan province, dating back about 5,000 years.

    4. Gangshang site, Tengzhou, Shandong province, dating back about 5,000 years

    5. Sanxingdui site, Guanghan, Sichuan province, from about 3,000 to 3,200 years ago.

    6. Zhengjiahu graveyard site, Yunmeng county, Hubei province, the Warring States period (475 to 221 BC) to Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC).

    7. Jiangcun grand tomb, Xi'an, Shaanxi province, Western Han Dynasty (206 BC to AD 24).

    8. Royal graveyard site of Tuyuhun people, Wuwei, Gansu province, Tang Dynasty (618-907).

    9. Kiyakkuduk site of beacon towers, Yuli county, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Tang Dynasty.

    10. Zhongdu site, Fengyang county, Anhui province, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
