Let's start with a question: what’s the difference between Tibetan gazelle and Tibetan antelope?
This question, for many people, is too difficult to answer. However, for herdsmen on the Tibetan Plateau, there’s a simple way to tell the difference between the two: The Tibetan gazelle has a "white butt", which is a large white spot and is nicknamed "white butt" by local people. When the gazelle runs, its snow-white rear glows in the sunlight like a mirror hanging on its body, hence its nicknamed "mirror sheep".
Tibetan gazelle lives in alpine desert; thus it’s known as "Tibetan yellow goat". It lives in alpine meadow, sub-alpine grassland meadow and alpine desert zone between 300 and 5750 meters above sea level. It has strong adaptability, strong resistance to infection and disease, meanwhile, it’s gentle and easy to be tamed.
Gazelles are gifted with running skills. Within seconds, it can reach speeds up to 80 kilometers per hour and can run for hours without taking a rest, faster than lions and cheetahs.
