Tianfu Cosmic Ray Research Center in Chengdu City, southwest China's Sichuan Province, and Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) will be completed in 2022 with a tremendous stride forward in scientific research.
The building has been completed structurally
It attracted international and domestic experts to carry out in-depth research related to cosmic ray physics, master and develop advanced detection and fast electronics technology to build a detector design and key device research and development base with the experimental data of LHAASO.
And now, the construction of the research center building has taken shape and the renovation construction of each floor is gradually revealed according to the initial design drawings. Workers also spend more effort expediting the process.
A brighter future
the era of Ultrahigh-Energy γ Rays astronomy begins
The construction of LHAASO project will come to an end. The construction team ensured that the building was completed on schedule, and the scientific results were produced at the same time, which produced groundbreaking scientific discoveries and attracted widespread attention from all over the world.
According to statistics, 27 representative journal papers and 25 conference papers have been published, and 5 technical patents have been obtained, which has finally drawn to a successful end to the construction and also brought a bright beginning of Ultrahigh-Energy γ Rays astronomy.
It is reported that, in October 2021, the LHAASO project was selected into an exhibition of China's achievements in scientific and technological innovation during the 13th Five-Year Plan period and selected as one of the top 10 Chinese scientific achievements in China by CCTV and Science and Technology Daily.
"Tianfu Cosmic Ray Research Center will be completed and put into use in 2022. We expect more scientific research results to be produced in the future." Luo Jing, a staff member at the research center, said.
Cao Zhen, the director of Tianfu Cosmic Ray Research Center and lead scientist of LHAASO, said that there were many achievements last year, and it was not a STOP, but a START. Joining hands with the Tianfu New Area, an observatory full of discovery potential, a gamma telescope for higher precision, and a starting point for broader international cooperation were a big stage for young people in the future.
