Hao Shuping, a national inheritor of Shu embroidery, is a master of Sichuan arts and crafts, who has been engaged in Shu embroidery for more than 60 years.
She is more than 70 years old and still very energetic, she said, " The only thing I am good at is Shu embroidery, I will keepdoingit all my life."
Choose one thing, love the whole life
In 1959, Hao Shuping studied in the Sichuan embroidery class of Chengdu Arts and Crafts College. Later, she worked as the factory director for 17 years in the 1980s in Chengdu Shu embroidery factory.
In 2005, Sichuan embroidery factory was restructured, and she continued to set up Chengdu Hao shu ping shuxiu Arts & Crafts Master Studio.
Innovation never stops
She can grasp the market demand keenly. "No matter how good something is, if no one buys it, it cannot inspire the inheritors to continue."
Over the years, she and other masters have explored various skills.Besides, they also use oil paintings and modern paintings as the materials of Sichuan embroidery.
Inherit Shu embroidery
In addition to being a master of Sichuan embroidery, she devoted herself to teaching. In the 2021 annual intangible cultural heritage selection, she was shortlisted.
She has trained more than 200 students. There are 11 Sichuan arts and crafts masters, twoinheritors of Sichuan intangible cultural heritage and three in heritors of Chengdu intangible cultural heritage. In 2010, Sichuan embroidery was established in collaboration with Sichuan Huaxin Modern Vocational College.
