Jinchuan snow pear, white skin like snow, fresh and juicy, is a very popular variety of Chinese white pear, the most common fruit inourdaily life.

Pear trees are widely planted in Jinchuan county, Aba Tibetan autonomous prefecture, Sichuan province. It's worth noting that the 9 pear trees in the ancient pear garden in the county’s Qingning village are over 300 years old, with the oldest one hitting 386 years old and noted for one of the Top 10 oldest trees in Sichuan. The oldest pear tree is 17 meters high and 1.2 meters in diameter at breast height with an average crown width of 17 meters.

According to legend, in the Tang dynasty the Wencheng princess gave a pear tree to a local state’s queen on her journey to Tibet, and soon the tree was taken and planted to Qingning village.

From 1522 to 1566 in the Ming dynasty, a mudslide seriously damaged the local pear trees, and fortunately the pear tree seeds remained so that the new pear tree could continue to take root and grow here.

Currently, the local government is studying and planning to build the ancient pear garden into a park.
