古树，自然界和前人留下的珍贵遗产，有“活的文物”之称。

Ancient trees, crowned as "living cultural relics", are precious heritages left by nature and predecessors.

在雅安市荥经县，有座千年古刹云峰寺，寺中生长着两株1700多岁的桢楠，历经风雨沧桑、战火天灾，依然屹立不倒，被誉为“中国桢楠王”，获“中国最美桢楠”“四川十大树王”等名号。

In Xinjing County, Ya'an, a thousand-year-old Yunfeng Temple, is home to two 1700-year-old heather trees that have survived the ravages of wind and rain, war and natural disasters, and are still standing tall as the "King of Chinese Heather", and have been renowned the "Most Beautiful Heather in China" and "Top Ten Trees of Sichuan".

云峰寺始建于唐，赐额于宋，兵毁于元，修复于明，续修于清。最吸引人的，是寺内由198株参天古树组成的古桢楠园林，规模为全国之最，为不同时期栽种。

Yunfeng Temple was constructed in the Tang Dynasty, granted the title in the Song Dynasty, destroyed by war in the Yuan Dynasty, restored in the Ming Dynasty and renewed in the Qing Dynasty. What is fascinating about the temple is its largest ancient heather garden in the country, home to 198 ancient trees planted at different periods of time.

两株“桢楠王”分别列于天王殿石梯两侧，绿冠凌空，如擎天之柱，直冲云霄，需七八个人才能合抱。

The two heather trees are standing on either side of the stone staircase of the Celestial Kings Hall, as green pillars soaring straight up to the clouds, which takes seven or eight people to wrap their arms to encircle it.

古树园林历经风雨。在元初，就遭受兵灾，寺庙被毁，园林被烧。在近代，多个特殊时期遭到明伐暗盗。

This ancient garden has endured through thick and thin. In the early Yuan Dynasty, the temple was destroyed and the garden was burned down. In more recent times, it was robbed several times at special periods.

民国时期，一株“桢楠王”被当时政府驻军一哨兵的烟火点燃，烧干了半边树干。好在，没有烧着的半边第二年开始突然猛长，越长越大，越长越直，基本代替了另一半。

During the period of the Republic of China, one heather tree was set on fire by a sentry of the government garrison, burning half of its trunk dry. Fortunately, the unburned half began to grow stronger and straighter in the second year, gradually replacing the other half.

近几年，荥经县对园林中的古树进行逐株调查、建档，开展保护修复工程，防治病虫害，建立严格管护制度，让两株“桢楠王”及园中古树得到了良好呵护。

Xingying County has in recent years investigated and documented the ancient trees, carried out protection and restoration, prevented pests and diseases, and established a strict management system so that the two kings of trees and other ancient trees in the gardens are being well taken care of.
