10月18日,据中国科学院高能物理研究所(以下简称中科院高能所)消息,10月9日,高海拔宇宙线观测站“拉索”、高能爆发探索者和慧眼卫星同时探测到迄今最亮的伽马射线暴,打破了多项伽马射线暴观测纪录。
On Oct. 18, the journalist learned from Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Science that the powerful gamma-raybursts (GRBs) ever recorded was detected by China's Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO), High Energy Burst Searcher(HEBS), and the "Insight"Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT) on Oct. 9. It has broken several records of gamma-ray observation.
伽马射线暴是宇宙中最剧烈的天体爆发现象,短至几毫秒,长达数小时,释放的能量超过太阳一生辐射能量的总和。
GRBs are immensely energetic explosions that have been observed in distant galaxies. Bursts can last from ten milliseconds to several hours. The energy released by GRBs can exceed the total amount of energy radiated by the sun during its lifetime.
本次观测到的伽马射线暴爆发时刻在“拉索”视场中的位置
本次观测中,“拉索”探测到了大量的高能光子,探测到的最高能量光子达到了18万亿电子伏(TeV),在国际上首次打开了10万亿电子伏波段的伽马射线暴观测窗口。而过去半个多世纪探测到的数千个伽马射线暴中,最高能量光子大约在1万亿电子伏。
This time, LHAASO has detected a large number of high energies, the highest of which is of 18 TeV, marking the first detection of a GRB with energies above 10 TeV. However, in the past half century, the energy of such events is usually measured in giga-electronvolts (GeV), with a few being recorded with energies of abpit 1 tera-electronvolt (TeV).

“拉索”在百GeV以上的甚高能区记录到几万个光子信号,将给出伽马射线暴最高能段的光变曲线最精细的测量。高海拔宇宙线观测站首席科学家、中科院高能所研究员曹臻表示:“细节越多,就越能展开细致的研究,高能粒子如何被加速,就像放电影一样被还原出来。”
LHAASO has detected ten thousands energies, making the subtlest measurement of the GRBs'most energetic part. "More details enable us to make more accurate studies. The process that how energetic particles are sped up will be restored like a film,"said Cao Zhen, chief scientist of LHAASO.
本次探测结果已在国际上引发了巨大反响,大量相关研究迅速展开,进一步的数据分析和科学研究正由“拉索”合作组成员全力开展。很多海外天文“发烧友”纷纷留言,感叹“拉索”这次惊人的突破。
The LHAASO detection has triggered a tremendous international response, with a large number of related studies rapidly underway and discussions about new physical possibilities emerging. Further data analysis and scientific studies are being carried out by members of the LHAASO collaborative group.
