Legacy, a popular web variety show that shares Chinese culture by depicting Chinese people's ordinary lives, presenting their wisdom, thoughts, and philosophies across the ages, has been officially launched on its global release date. The first season mainly sheds light on Luzhou Laojiao, one of the classic varieties of Sichuan baijiu. Taking liquor as its protagonist, it wows the audience with a fascinating journey in the renowned Chinese liquor city Luzhou through exploring the secret of the aroma of baijiu inherited for 24 generations. After the first episode A Tale of Liquor and City: Travel Beyond Time was released, we've received tons of comments from our audience telling us that the show's quite educational as they've learned a lot about the Chinese baijiu and even felt a little bit worried about our two guests! In the previous show, the two guests were given a mysterious task of finding the key to fine liquor by seeking the answer to the question, "Where am I from?" From there, they join to embark on the fascinating 24-generation baijiu journey. What exactly is the key to fine liquor? Does water have anything to do with baijiu? Situated at the intersection of the Yangtze River and Tuojiang River, Luzhou has produced its own natural taste of baijiu based on the distinct geographical location. In this episode, SICC bilingual anchor Lin Jiawei and the foreign traveler Luo Ang will set off to search for fine baijiu’s local water source through visiting the Tuojiang River and Longquan Well and meet with the water source's "guardian." Legacy series plans to reflect the authentic Sichuan baijiu culture and tackles the five main themes, including the history of baijiu, water sources, apprenticeship and inheritance, liquor cellars, and baijiu-making techniques. Through on-site visits, one-of-a-kind liquor-making activities hosted by experts, and short "apprenticeship" games, our two guests gained insights into the historical heritage and craftsmanship of Sichuan baijiu, which helped them perceive, interpret, and promote Sichuan baijiu culture from both Chinese and Western perspectives.
